28.12.2011. Christmas party got all the alumni together to have fun with Christmas music, decorations and games. Everybody prepared Christmas presents for the other alumnus. Also, students presented their New Year’s resolutions. Furthermore, they wrote on a piece of paper where they think they will be this time next year, and it will be saved in a box until next Christmas. This event helped bonding alumni students of all exchange generations.
22.12.2011. It is becoming a tradition to have Open doors: Tips & Tricks from Alumni. Once again, Alumni Resource Center opened its doors for all the students willing to know more about our scholarship. Interested students could come and get information about Global UGRAD Exchange program. Our alumni were glad to answer all the questions. They helped other students by giving them advice on how to improve their application and what to expect if they get chosen to go to the States. The event was very successful and with the large number of attendees.
20.12.2011. Alumni, who spent a year in US with the A Smile program, formed a NGO Think Big Team. They presented their organization and what they do, to our alumni students who were very happy to hear about their program. Everybody shared their own experiences and inspired each others to continue making progress in their environments.
17.12.2011. The great event that thrilled alumni students was a Game Day. It was a friendly soccer game that alumni students played with the employees at US Embassy. Alumni took a chance to socialize and talk about their lives in the US with the guests from US Embassy. Everybody showed their sport spirit and had a lot of fun.
15.12.2011. Alumni students gathered to watch a movie. Juno, as the movie is titled, made students laugh but also feel sympathetic with the characters and problems they faced in modern society. As the movie is set in St. Cloud, Minnesota, it helped alumni remember their days in the US. The night ended with sharing stories about students’ experiences and anecdotes that they had while studying in the US.
13.12.2011. Alumni students had a chance to learn how to write or improve their CVs. Together with Craig Hempfling, director of World Learning in Serbia, alumni had an opportunity to work on different types of CVs and through study cases learn how to present themselves in the best way. Also, there was an open discussion and everybody could participate and ask questions about their own CV. Friendly atmosphere helped students to be relaxed and confident during this workshop.

30.11.2011. World Learning Serbia officially opened the doors of our new ALUMNI RESOURCE CENTER at our Belgrade office. The Center was created to be a place for all of you Global UGRAD Montenegro and Serbia students to meet, use the space for your ideas and projects, and to be a place where you can get the knowledge and skills necessary to launch and support your future careers.
Alumni Resource Center will serve as a hub for alumni professional development and civic engagement, education and networking. The plan is to have workshops, trainings and lectures that suit your needs for further development, to organize internship/job fair programs, connect our students with other US State Department alumni in Serbia and Montenegro. ARC would also be a place for World Learning SIT students. Our activities will be aimed at making a greater impact on our local communities.
14.11.2011. Alumni welcomed students from Princeton University who are here on Bridge Year Program. That is the program where students delay the beginning of their studies so they could do community work at one of the four different destinations: Peru, India, Ghana or Serbia. They got introduced with our exchange program and our students. After getting to know each other better our Alumni showed them the city, and all the historic and important sites.
14.11.2011. Alumni met their friends that are in Serbia as a part of the World Learning SIT program. Gathering with them was very productive and useful both for our Alumni and American students. After socializing they helped each other with their academic and professional issues.
UGRAD Alumni students decided to do a community work and volunteer at different projects during the beginning of every month.
5.11. 2011. In the first week of November Alumni decided to support Think Big Team, and volunteered at their project Recycleton 2011. The main goal of this project is to raise awareness about environmental protection and recycling in Serbia with the emphasis of ecological and safe disposal of e-waste. Last year, Recycleton 2010 had seven actions and collected 14.5 tons (about 32,000lbs) of e-waste that was recycled at BiS Recycling Center.
